Welcome
On October 24 British Columbians will go to the polls to elect a new government. This forum is an online doorstep, where voters of Nanaimo – North Cowichan can ask questions of their candidates. So ask away, and we’ll add your question to the list. Find out below the form how this forum works…

How this forum works
Step 1 – You submit your questions using the Election Forum submission form above. We see if the question has already been asked, and if so, add to its tally on our Forum Questions page so people will know how many want it answered. If it’s a new question, we will edit for clarity, then add it to the cumulative list.
Anyone, including the candidates themselves, can ask a question. Information on who has submitted a question WILL NOT be provided.
Step 2 – Once a question has been posted, candidates can choose to respond, and we will remind them with frequent invitations to participate. We will also record responses in audio or video for candidates, who prefer those formats to written responses.
Step 3 – When we receive a candidate’s response, we will make note of it in two places:
- One – the candidate’s Election Forum page, where links to questions responded to will be provided.
- Two – under the question itself, which will be published as a blog-post to the CRA website, where moderated comments will be permitted.
This way, people wanting to keep up with things can follow two tracks. They can quickly get a view of what the individual candidates have responded to, and how. Or they can find out what issues are top of mind, and how candidates have responded to their specific interests or concerns.
Step 4 – If you want a more detailed response, candidates’ contact information will be provided.
